T 20 World cup 2024

The Indian cricket team is gearing up for the T20 World Cup 2024, with the first preparatory series against Australia set to begin on April 17, 2024. The team will feature several young guns, including Riyan Parag, Shivam Dubey, Rinku Singh, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Tilak Varma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jitesh Kumar, Mukesh Kumar, and Avesh Khan.

Riyan Parag, who was the highest run-scorer in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Tournament with 510 runs in 10 matches at an average of 85, did not receive a call-up for the team. Similarly, Abhishek Sharma and Ravi Teja, who performed well in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, were also kept away from contention.

Shivam Dube has been in impressive form, scoring 103 runs in three outings at a strike rate of 151.47 in the IPL 2024, moving up significantly in the ladder. He has been handed a Grade C contract by the BCCI, earning 1 crore + match fees.

Yashasvi Jaiswal's place in the team is in danger, as he has not been performing consistently. The team management is considering other options for the wicketkeepers' slot, with Jitesh Sharma, Sanju Samson, and Ishan Kishan in contention.

The return of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to the T20I fold has added intrigue to the team selection, with both veterans back in contention for the World Cup. However, Ishan Kishan's absence from the T20 squad has raised eyebrows, especially considering his desire for a break during the India vs South Africa series due to personal reasons.

The upcoming T20I series against Afghanistan is crucial as it is the final one before the World Cup. The team will be without the services of Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja, who have been rested, and Ruturaj Gaikwad, who is not fit to play yet. All-rounder Shivam Dubey has been named in the squad in Hardik Pandya's absence.

The Afghanistan series serves as India's final preparation before the T20 World Cup, which starts right after the IPL. The team management will be closely monitoring the performances of the young guns and the form of the senior players as they finalize their squad for the World Cup.
